FINALLY THE WAIT IS OVER………......... ‘SEASON OF THE ORIGINALS’ VAMPIRE DIARIES SEASON 3

Finally the wait is over. Vampire diaries season 3 dubbed Season of the originals returns to our screens with a promise of gore, blood, blood and more blood.
After a shocking and head spinning season finale that saw the last-ditch salvation of the volatile, crazy impulsive Damon and the potential damnation of the morally driven Stefan, the new season promises to blur the lines further between monster and hero. As part of a deal with the devil to save his brother, Stefan has left the town of Mystic Falls to feast on human blood with werewolf-vampire Klaus. Meanwhile, Damon has been left behind in the unlikely role of hero and emotional crutch for Stefan's girlfriend Elena (Toronto's Nina Dobrev).
In an interview at Comic-Comic, the annual pop-culture convention in San Diego, Wesley was asked whether Damon would return the favour and come to his brother's rescue.
"He is going to return the favour and make out with Elena," Wesley said with a wry grin. "Let's be honest here. C'mon, it's Damon."
But Wesley is relishing the chance to play up Stefan's dark side.
"As the season develops, and as the events develop (and he drinks) more blood, that is going to make him forget . . . his mission, which was to protect Elena," he said. "And I think he's going to become a guy who we've never seen before. . . . (He's) a guy who we all love, because he is so noble and he's so heroic and he's always doing the right thing. I think, for him to become the pure antithesis to that is going to be kind of shocking. It's shocking for me to film and, I imagine (and hope), it will be shocking for audiences to see. But I think it's going to be a slow transition."
For his part, Wesley has been clamouring for the chance to go bad.
"I've been asking for two years; I think the (writers) just wanted to shut me up," he joked. "I think Stefan and Damon need to shift a little bit. I think, if Stefan and Elena are in love and they have absolutely no obstacles, and their love is intact . . . I mean, who the hell really wants to watch that?"
Wesley equated the blood on the show toa vampire "narcotic."
"I have kind of the freedom and liberty to do whatever I want (with Stefan), because I'm completely immersed in this blood that has shifted me," he said.
As for Dobrev she'll get a chance to further explore the spectrum of good and evil, once again playing the dual roles of Elena and her vampire look-alike, Katherine.
"I get the best of both worlds," she told the Comic-Con panel. "I get to be the bad girl, the good girl, have flashbacks, and bite people. I can't pick one, because they are both challenging."
"I've sort of become a little bit both of these characters. I started off more like Elena, but as I'm growing up, I'm becoming a little bit more like Katherine, “she said
Series creator Kevin Williamson said Season 3 will find Elena continuing to struggle with her conflicted emotions for the two brothers. At the end of Season 2, Katarina tells Elena, "It's OK to love them both. I did." Only time will tell whether Elena follows that advice - but what Elena presumed was a death-bed kiss with Damon in the season finale has certainly complicated things for her.

As for what lies in stores for Somerhalder's Damon, "Life is not always one-dimensional, and I came into this character as the guy who is sort of footloose and fancy-free and just maniacal . . . and I'm funny and fun and (that has partly changed)," he told the panel. " And it was tough to make that transition. . . . But, with these characters, Kevin (Williamson)said, 'This is not a movie with a beginning and an end.' You've talking about a 100-episode arc for a character and there are ebbs and flows in that arc."
In Season 3, Somerhalder is not too thrilled with how events have played out. "He tried for two seasons to get his brother to (go bad) . . . to just eat and destroy everything in their paths, and now he's actually (doing that) with a guy that Damon hates, who tried to kill him. And now he is left here in Mystic Falls with this girl that he loves who he totally can't have because she doesn't want him."
Is there another key surprise in Season 3? It appears that ghosts have entered a supernatural mix already crowded with vampires, witches and werewolves. After a near-death experience, Elena's brother Jeremy (Steven R. McQueen) starts to see the dead in the season finale.
But the series' heart will remain the Salvatore brothers and their internal struggles between humanity and monster. And, of course, there is that steamy, sexual tension with Elena - the woman they've both come to love.
Somerhalder credited Williamson and the series' writers for creating supernatural characters that were dynamic and complex.
"It's the push and pull of being what you really are, which is this killer - you can't just walk around killing people," he said of the show's vampires. "It's the alcoholic in the bar, how (hard) that person has to fight his or her urges. It makes for really cool, dynamic characters."
The Vampire Diaries Season 3 premieres on Thursday, Sept. 15 on CW at 8 ET/PT
